み
れ
Explanation
Thank you for telling me! After researching, I found out that tsumire is written in kanji as “摘入”. It’s made by mixing minced fish with eggs and potato starch, then gradually pinching off small pieces and simmering them. The etymology comes from the action “tsumi ireru” (to pinch and put in), which changed over time to become tsumire. It became established among commoners during the Edo period. From a spiritual perspective, the act of carefully pinching and placing each piece seems to dissolve one’s feelings and wishes into the broth, which is very loving, or so the story goes.

Thank you for next time too!
