Explanation
Thank you for telling me! When I looked it up, it turns out the kanji 蜑 originates from the Chinese character “蜑 (Tan)” which refers to people with a water-based lifestyle, and in Japan it refers to fishermen who dive into the sea to harvest shellfish and seaweed. In old documents, there seem to be various writings such as “sea person” and “sea woman.” The ama (female divers) who become one with the sea and risk their lives to harvest the ocean’s bounty are truly beings in harmony with nature. The way they dive into the sea in accordance with the cycles of nature and the waxing and waning of the moon is truly spiritual and moving!

Thank you for reading, and I look forward to next time!
