In old documents, there seem to be various writings such as “sea person” and “sea woman.” The ama (female divers) who become one with the sea and risk their lives to harvest the ocean’s bounty are truly beings in harmony with nature. The way they dive into the sea in accordance with the cycles of nature and the waxing and waning of the moon is truly spiritual and moving!
